If you've always found dresses quite tricky to wear without either looking like a teenager or dressing like your mother, then here are a few ideas for dress styles when it comes to fashion over 50.

If you need to disguise those figure flaws then go for a cropped sleeve to cover bingo wings, draping or an empire line to disguise a flabby stomach, and a fuller skirt to skim over thick thighs and hips.

Maxi dresses are great for hiding chunky legs and ankles and are so on-trend at the moment, even for daywear. A wrap-style dress covers a mulitude of sins and is both timeless and ageless. Dark colors will make you look slimmer or choose a colour that brings life to your skin, hence why deep reds and pinks look good on older women.

It's often tricky to find stylish dresses with sleeves, so I've included a few of these in this collection. A cropped, three-quarter sleeve is more slimming than a short or long one, as it finishes at the thinnest part of your arm.
